Okay, so THQ Nordic had this crazy showcase, right? And they spilled the beans on a bunch of games — some of which are pretty wild. Let me try to break it down, if I can. Or at least I’ll try before I veer off into my own thoughts.
First off, Tarsier, the folks behind those spooky Little Nightmares games, are up to something new called Reanimal. And seriously, watching the trailer was like dipping into someone else’s nightmare — it’s all creepy new monsters and siblings trying to make it through this horror-show game world. There’s co-op, so you can scream at the TV beside your friend on the couch. Why do we love horror that much? No clue.
Then there’s the SpongeBob SquarePants game — Titans of the Tide. Who ever thought we’d be this excited about SpongeBob? It’s out on PS5 on November 18th. Finally, you can play as Patrick! And there’s music by David Hasselhoff himself. Can you believe it? I mean, the legend! Pre-order gives you these funky costumes and some season pass thing. As a kid, could I have imagined a SpongeBob universe so vast and… wardrobe-heavy? Not at all.
Speaking of blasts from the past, wow, Gothic 1 Remake is back! Alkimia Interactive must’ve had their hearts in this one, reimagining a classic RPG for all those hardcore fans. I tried the demo and, man, it’s like taking a time machine to revisit the Valley of the Mines again. But no spoilers here, I promise. Just classic RPG goodness.
Now for something different — if complicated platformers make you itch, say hello to Eternal Life of Goldman. The trailer? It’s got this really intense vibe. Kind of like life spinning off its axis as you try to keep the pieces together. Again, maybe I’m just reading too much into these games. They showed off some truly vivid and dark art there, which can either pull you in or send you into a tailspin. Depends on the mood, I guess.
Oh, and this one! Tides of Tomorrow by Digixart. They’re the brains behind Route 96, if you’ve heard of it. Their new thing? It’s asynchronous, which is a fancy way of saying every decision you make somehow matters. Like we need more of that kind of pressure, but hey — it’s post-apocalyptic fun! You, as the player, kind of decide who lives or doesn’t, or something like that. Fun, right? Maybe.
For the adrenaline junkies, there’s Wreckfest 2. I’ve spent too many hours crashing cars in the first one to not get revved up for this. It’s full-on chaos and the developers, BugBear Entertainment, are knocking it out of the park with their delightful "drive hard or die hard" spirit. It’s out in 2026, which feels both just around the corner and eons away. Time is funny like that.
Oh, did I mention Titan Quest II? More mythological madness. This time, you can customize like crazy, mixing and matching classes. Ancient Greece never sounded so appealing to me until it involved fighting off gods and mystical creatures. The mythology geeks among us should be excited!
And finally, something about a game called Wreckreation caught my eye. It’s South Park meets Need for Speed. Ever wanted to jump a dinosaur in your car? Well, now you can. Somehow, that’s a thing. With live mixing mode, you’re basically a DJ in a destruction derby — mind blown!
Well, that’s it. I’ll probably think of more random details I missed later. Maybe I’ll dream about it when I finally fall asleep tonight. Who knows. Anyway, here’s hoping these games live up to the wild hype they’ve drummed up. Can’t wait till Gamescom!
