Well, here we go. So, Drag x Drive—this game that’s coming out for the Switch 2? Yeah, that got my attention. Not sure why, but the whole wheelchair basketball thing with mouse controls? Wild, right? Anyway, Nintendo tossed out this trailer and it’s like, “Let’s peek into the innards of this beast” before it drops on August 14.
So, we have this chunky 7-minute dive via the trailer. It’s all about controls and tricks and, get this, what the heck you do when you’re not just bouncing around the court.
On a podcast (the Pure Nintendo one, in case you’re curious), we were all scratching our heads about what modes we’d get besides the regular, like, 3-on-3 matches. Turns out, they’ve thrown in some minigames. Probably to keep our restless brains entertained. Online play’s there, obviously, plus some training mode where you can square off against bots. Because who doesn’t like pretending bots are real people?
Here’s some kind of rundown from Nintendo—hang on:
Imagine this: you’re diving into online chaos, battling folks from every corner of the globe. Six players, and boom! Game’s on. And apparently, up to 12 of your best pals can crowd into something they call a Public Park.
But maybe you’re more of a “let’s keep it private” kind of player. In that case, Friend Parks are your jam. Go wild, pick games, chat or don’t—totally your call. Two courts, six players duking it out on one court, and challenges that make you sweat a little. There’s a leaderboard, for those with bragging rights.
Playing solo against AI? Yep. You’ve got Guards, Centers, and Forwards to pick from—each with their own… personae? Who even knows, but find your fit.
But breaking away from the court, there’s a minigame called Circuit Sprint. Think races, shooting contests, and seriously—jump rope? Something called Rebound Scramble, anyway, details schmetails. You get trophies and can trick out helmets and stuff. Just let your driver flex in style.
This stuff sounds entertaining, right? Kinda curious if this’ll become one of those sleeper hits or just another one for the pile. Ah, patience… let’s play the waiting game while she launches.
Spoiler alert! A Global Jam’s happening before the big day. August 9-10. You can snag a demo, maybe even toss a few balls with your besties. Like, before the game is even officially out. Crazy times:
August 9, from 3 am to 7 am PT
August 9, from 5 pm to 9 pm PT
August 10, from 9 am to 1 pm PT
Guess we’re hoping this one hits nothing but net when August 14 rolls around. Fingers crossed, right?
