With a meta where speed equals power, Strategist players have been working overtime just to keep their heads above water. However, the mid-season patch might be the light at the end of the tunnel.
In a Dev Talk post on Friday, NetEase directly addressed the ongoing support crisis that’s plagued Season 2. Heroes with incredible speed, like Iron Fist, have dominated the spotlight, forcing Strategists to juggle keeping an eye on teammates’ health, leveraging their key abilities, and staying on their toes regarding map positioning, as NetEase explained.
To ease the burden on support players, NetEase announced plans to boost their damage output, making them more of a threat and shaking up team dynamics. Additionally, Groot and Captain America are set to become easier targets, while Spider-Man’s infamous uppercut is getting nerfed to be less effective.
We can expect this patch to roll out in early May, and it’s also the one that introduces Ultron to the game. According to official footage, Ultron will step into the ring as a Strategist.
Considering how frequently NetEase plans to expand the hero roster, these reactive patches are likely key to maintaining some semblance of balance. NetEase aims to tread carefully to avoid wildly skewing the balance, opting for minor tweaks instead of sweeping overhauls. This move to empower support players seems like a step in the right direction, providing balance without spoiling the fun for those who love playing the hunter role.
