Man, that GTA 6 trailer. If you’re keeping score, Rockstar’s second trailer hit a crazy 475 million views in a day. No biggie, right? They bragged about it to The Hollywood Reporter, which, okay, if I had those numbers, I’d boast, too.
So, just to wrap your head around this — that’s nearly half a billion views. The first GTA 6 trailer got about 93 million views in the first 24 hours back in 2023. But there’s a twist. That one was only on YouTube. Less platforms, fewer chances for eyeballs.
Fast forward, trailer two’s sitting at a cool 84 million on YouTube alone. Yep, it’s still a little short of trailer one’s 255 million YouTube views. But the comments? Already half of what trailer one got — 437,000 to over a million. And, not surprisingly, folks are basically saying it blew their socks off.
Oh, and remember those 80s tracks? Last time it was Tom Petty. Now, ‘Hot Together’ by The Pointer Sisters saw its Spotify plays skyrocket by 182,000%. Kinda nuts, right? I hope they’re getting those sweet royalty checks!
Sulinna Ong from Spotify chimed in — something about music being key to the GTA vibe since forever. Yeah, and GTA just cuts through culture like butter.
Anyway, Rockstar also threw us a bone, saying trailer two was all captured on a PS5. Real gameplay and cutscenes. So, fingers crossed it looks this good when we play. Assuming your console isn’t slacking.
Some ex-Rockstar dude mentioned the lighting makes it pop. He’s convinced the game’ll be a hit, no matter the price. And I trust him. Because, why not?
