Oh man, so guess what? Got my hands on some big news about that gecko, Gex, you remember him? Well, Limited Run Games just dropped the release date for the Gex Trilogy. Yeah, it’s happening. And not just that—three different versions for the Switch. Pretty wild, right?
So, this collection’s got it all: the original 2D Gex and its 3D follow-ups, Gex: Enter the Gecko and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. They threw in some nifty upgrades too, like the ability to rewind and save whenever you feel like it. Handy, huh? I always forget to save. Like, who doesn’t?
And OMG, they did a thing with widescreen because apparently, Gex and widescreens are a match made in heaven now. Plus, they revamped it with this snazzy 360-degree movement doohickey. Still not sure if I need that, but it sounds cool. Maybe it was necessary? Or just a shiny new thing. Who can say?
Now about those physical editions—they’ve got these titles like they’re some kind of royal parade or something. You’ve got the Standard Edition, and yes, they did mean standard because it’s basically just the game and its paraphernalia—case, booklet, yada yada. Price tag? $39.99. Not too shabby, I guess.
Then there’s the Classic Edition, and this is where it gets lively. Steelbook, a double-sided poster (which side do you even hang?), and a soundtrack CD. All sorts of nostalgia, packed in a retro-style box, mind you. They’re asking $74.99 for this throwback magic.
But oh—enter the Tail Time Edition. Not even joking, $199.99. Why? Because it’s loaded. Comes with an inflatable Gex—yes, inflatable—statue, trading cards, pins, a full soundtrack. The works! And all bundled up in a collector’s box, with art from Yoshitaka Amano. Fancy, right?
The whole digital thing lands on the Switch eShop world tour on June 16, 2025. The physical sets, those ship a bit later. Can’t wait for pre-orders? They’re up already on Limited Run’s website. But the clock’s ticking till July 6, 2025. Better mark that.
Anyway, there’s a trailer too, but words honestly can’t justify visuals. Or can they? Meh, who knows.
So yeah, that’s the scoop. Pretty bonkers. Can’t wait to see if it lives up—or if it’s just another nostalgic dive. Or both? We’ll see.
