Oh boy, so, Elden Ring Nightreign had a little server downtime today—three hours, give or take, which for some reason feels like a century when you’re in the middle of a marathon gaming session, right? Anyway, they did this to roll out Patch 1.02.1. Gotta love those one percentage updates. Incremental, they say.
Big news, though—Storm Ruler’s getting a power surge! Apparently, it charges faster now and the slicing animation speeds up. Imagine a knife cutting through soft butter, but faster. (Does that make sense? Somehow it does to me.) Also, when you don’t charge it with the storm, it still packs a punch. Like, surprise! Didn’t expect that did ya? Remember how it was this nifty trick in Dark Souls 3 with Yhorm the Giant? Whoever thought recycling could be this fun.
Oh, and there are patches, fixes—bugs crawling around getting squashed. Tons of them. Seriously, there’s a list long enough to brew a cup of coffee to. A patch for every glitch. Like this one bug where items wouldn’t let you do anything else. Talk about a stubborn fix! And stuff with guards and effects not triggering. Also, eggs and insects—a bug with bugs? That’s meta, man.
Then there’s Maris, one of those Everdark Sovereigns. Sounds intimidating, right? There was a stagger thing? Not quite sure. Almost feels like a bad dream where you’re swinging wildly and nothing connects. Plus some relic hiccups. And there’s that Frostbite effect acting all high and mighty, damage-wise.
Side note—Flasks not healing because of relics. I mean, come on, that’s supposed to be the safety net! Some color mismatches here, some framerate issues there. Real pièce de résistance, I tell ya.
And don’t get me started on the sorcery—a bit too much casting causing network wobbles. Like you really did break the internet. Who knew spells could be so demanding?
PS5 players had a unique treat—whole HUD disappearing! Quite the vanishing act. Got patched, though, so breathe easy.
In a pinch, I’d say these update notes are a saga in themselves. Oh, and guides—new bosses, new tactics. Always something lurking in the fog of that game. Anyone up for a stroll through the Everdark?
