The Jackbox Party Pack 11 is hitting Xbox soon—like, really soon—and I’m so pumped for you all to see the wild stuff we’ve been whipping up! We’ve got five brand new games in this pack. There’s a joke-writing game, a kind-of-chill drawing game, a sound effects game (yeah, that’s a thing), a sneaky deduction game, and this trivia RPG thing called Legends of Trivia. Like, seriously, it’s nuts.
Now, Legends of Trivia—it’s trivia but with a fantasy twist, because why not? You and your buddies team up to take down monsters by, you guessed it, answering trivia questions. But hey, don’t get them wrong, or those monsters will smack you right back. It’s wild teamwork at its finest.
I got a chance to chat with some cool dev folks on the Legends team: Warren Arnold, who’s the Game Director; Hector Padilla, our art wiz; and Nate Sandberg, the sound genius.
So how does Legends of Trivia even work? Warren says you answer these trivia questions, and right answers smash monsters, wrong ones? Well, ouch. Your squad’s gotta think fast, work together, and maybe, just maybe, make it to Legendary status. It’s a huge project—lots of action and stuff.
Now, about its world—super interesting story here—Hector threw out the first version like five or six years back (what!). It was just an idea then, but people dug it. Eventually, it got iced because, you know, too many questions. Fast forward a bit, Nate nudged him, asking for all those old notes, and boom, it’s happening for real now. Sometimes it takes years, huh?
The design vibes are off the charts. Nate’s all about that retro 8-bit Final Fantasy music—like, it’s engraved in his brain—and it shows. Mixing those classic sounds with lutes and cellos and, I don’t know, trombones (because why not?), he’s nailing that fantasy feel. But it’s supposed to be Jackbox-style funny too, so he tossed in cartoon sounds and, oddly enough, a jaw harp. Go figure.
Hector felt the same nostalgia, channeling his inner Pokémon vibes from Ken Sugimori—massive influence there. While character design is his jam, UI? Uh, bit of a struggle bus situation. But he’s all about finding the right balance.
Speaking of characters, Hector’s got this soft spot for Azura, The Princess Mage, and Bingo, The Rogue Jester. Yep, clowns deserve love too!
Favorite sounds? Nate’s all about this ogre boss who rides a tiny donkey. That mix of cartoon xylophones and massive ogre sounds? Pure hilarity. It’s all about creating that awesome, immersive feel where player choices actually matter, and those tunes? They’re meant to stick with you. So keep an eye out for The Jackbox Party Pack 11. It’s coming this fall to Xbox and trust me, you’re gonna want in on this chaos.
