Acer has just rolled out an impressive lineup of six graphics cards under the Radeon RX 9070 series, which boast some serious specs, including base and OC models with maximum boost clocks reaching up to 3.1 GHz.
AMD collaborator Acer broadens its portfolio with the introduction of both BiFrost and Nitro editions for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070, priced with a Nitro RX 9070 XT OC model hitting the market at a striking $829.
While Acer might not be the most prominent name you think of in AMD’s array of partners, it’s certainly making waves with its release of new RDNA 4 GPUs. The company’s latest offering includes two models for each GPU version: one under the BiFrost banner and the other as part of the Nitro series. BiFrost editions are designed to deliver cool looks and high-performance cooling solutions, whereas the Nitro series targets a more general audience but still promises solid performance.
Let’s dive into the BiFrost range first. The Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB is a standout with its triple-fan cooling setup housed in an eye-catching shroud detailed with silver fish accents. The card comes equipped with FrostBlade 4.0 fans featuring a counter-spin design, maximizing heat dispersion effectively. Spanning approximately 295 mm in length and requiring a 2.5-slot space, it comes overclocked straight from the factory to a thrilling 3.1 GHz, ensuring it can handle the most demanding gaming sessions with ease.
The BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB closely mirrors its XT sibling in design. However, there are differences in power input, as this model operates with two 8-pin connectors compared to the XT’s three. Surprisingly, despite consuming less power than the XT by default, it shares the same 340W rating. While this setup suffices for high performance, it doesn’t offer the overclocking leeway that the BiFrost RX 9070 XT OC does.
Turning our attention to the Nitro series, it offers both overclocked and non-overclocked versions of the RX 9070 cards. The Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC is equipped with three fans and matches the 3.1 GHz boost clock of the BiFrost version. It also shares the same 2.5-slot dimensions and is similarly powered by three 8-pin connectors, with a total power budget of 340W. Interestingly, even the non-OC Nitro RX 9070 XT requires all three 8-pins for power, although it rates slightly lower at 304W. This model can turbo up to 2970 MHz or provide a stable 2.4 GHz in game mode.
Both the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and RX 9070 16 GB editions feature slightly lower maximum clocks of 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz, respectively. They are also designed similarly, with the OC version drawing 245W and the standard card pulling 220W.
Acer hasn’t disclosed the entire pricing spectrum yet, but the Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB will be available for $829.99. It’s fair to anticipate that the BiFrost version may have an even heftier price tag. Details on when more models will become available remain under wraps, but the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC is expected to land in stores across the US come April.
