Oh man, so this year’s been a wild ride for games. We’re talking head-spinning stuff like Expedition 33, which is like the most epic adventure ever, and Blue Prince, um—just an absolute masterpiece. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2? Yeah, it’s here, and wow, can’t even… But then there’s the flip side. Mindseye. Man, Build A Rocket Boy really dropped the ball, huh? Total trainwreck. Leslie Benzies, who was this big shot with GTA, is somehow still trying to salvage it. Redemption arc, he calls it. Bold move, I guess?
Anyway, right now, Mindseye’s looking like a lost cause. But hey, remember No Man’s Sky? Cyberpunk 2077? Dumpster fires at launch, now they’re gems. So, I suppose there’s hope? Maybe that’s what Benzies is banking on. Who knows. It’s this whole pull-a-rabbit-out-of-a-hat kind of deal.
So, there’s a bit of drama—IGN got the scoop on a video call from July 2. Benzies, in his smooth-talking way, claims BARB will bounce back. But then there’s the downer: staff at-risk notices. Yikes. Sounding like layoffs are coming in hot. Kinda makes you wonder how they’re gonna fix this mess, right? Gotta feel for the devs. Are there even enough folks to sort Mindseye out once the dust settles? No clue.
Oh, and Everywhere—this big project they had going—sort of got shoved aside. It was this ambitious thing to rival Roblox, but clearly, Mindseye took over. Not sure that was the best call seeing how it turned out, but hey, hindsight, right?
It’s kind of sad—on that call, Benzies talked about “saboteurs” messing things up. Like internal, even external folks? Wild. Total soap opera stuff. But listen, never say never. In a couple years, could Mindseye actually rock on Steam? Could go from that rough 37% to something decent. Do I think it’ll happen? Meh, not really. But what do I know? Rooting for a glow-up, whether it’s with Mindseye or hopefully, one day, with Everywhere.
For now, though, maybe skip Mindseye. No offense. Check out some killer sandbox games or get lost in stellar single-player worlds instead. Way better use of time, trust me.
