Yuji Horii — gotta love him for just not keeping a lid on things, right?
So, here I am, soaking up the gossip from some comic con in Napoli, Italy. Yuji Horii, the dude behind stuff like Dragon Quest, might’ve just let the cat outta the bag about a Chrono Trigger remake for its 30th anniversary. Yeah, you read that right!
Picture this: Horii’s on stage, chillin’ at a panel. Suddenly, he casually drops this bomb about a Chrono Trigger remake. The host’s like, “Wait, what?” And Horii? He just covers his mouth like, “Whoops!” The translator jumps in with, “You heard nothing!” Cue the crowd going wild. Seriously, can you imagine?!
This isn’t the first time Horii’s accidentally spilled the beans. Back in July 2015, he was on a roll. Dropped news about the 3DS versions of Dragon Quest VII and VIII coming out over here, even though they’d been out in Japan like forever. Oh, and let’s not forget when he casually mentioned Dragon Quest XI was gonna be on the “NX” (ya know, the Switch) when it was only supposed to be about PS4 and 3DS. Classic him, right?
Anyway, on March 11, Square Enix teased that there’d be more fun for Chrono Trigger’s big 3-0, but no deets yet. We’re all just here, hoping for something epic.
