Warner Bros, the entertainment powerhouse, has reportedly pulled the plug on an expansion planned for Hogwarts Legacy. According to Bloomberg, this expansion was supposed to launch alongside a Definitive Edition of the popular Harry Potter action RPG and was expected to introduce fresh storylines.
The reason behind the cancellation, as per the report, was that the content did not justify the price Warner Bros was considering. The expansion had been in the works by Avalanche Software, the original developers of the game, in collaboration with Rocksteady. It seems Avalanche is also focusing on crafting a sequel to the current Harry Potter offering.
Over at Rocksteady, the studio recently faced layoffs after deciding to halt support for the upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, set for release in 2024.
Last year, Warner Bros acknowledged that its gaming division wasn’t performing as hoped. In fact, they had to write off a massive $200 million for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Furthermore, in a bid to streamline, the company shut down three of its studios, including Monolith, and long-standing executive David Haddad announced his exit.
