Spider-Man 2 PC Mod Restores Peter’s Classic Face

Recently, a mod for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has brought Peter Parker’s original face back, much to the delight of fans. Although the game has just launched on PC days ago, modders have actively been generating fresh content.

Back in 2020, when Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered came to PlayStation 5, Insomniac made a controversial decision to change Peter Parker’s face, swapping John Bubniak’s likeness for Ben Jordan’s. This change stirred mixed feelings among the community, yet Insomniac stuck with it. Nevertheless, determined PC players have taken it upon themselves to modify the character’s appearance.

Just a short while post-release, a mod surfaced on Nexus Mods thanks to CarlosRPG5555. This mod, “John Bubniak’s Face Over Ben Jordan Face,” aims to reinstate John Bubniak’s original facial model from the 2018 game for the new release. The creator notes there are still a few visual bugs, with some humorous glitches like Peter having difficulty keeping his eyes shut. However, there’s optimism that these issues will be ironed out in time.

Modding held a significant role in the original Marvel’s Spider-Man on PC. Although the base game featured a wide array of unlockable suits, fans pushed these boundaries with creative mods, introducing characters and costumes from other franchises. This tradition seems set to continue with the recent title, as modders dive right into enhancing the game’s experience.

But the PC release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been met with “Mixed” reviews on Steam, primarily due to unexpected crashes and performance woes. This is puzzling, especially since Nixxes, known for their high-quality PlayStation PC ports, handled the conversion. Fans hope these issues will be resolved through future updates to restore the game’s reputation.
