Roboquest (PS5) Review: Endless Thrills in This Roguelite Shooter Adventure

Oh man, where do I even start with this one? So, there’s this game, Roboquest. You’ve probably heard of it, or maybe not, but whatever. Let me just jump into why it’s, like, both unique and kinda awesome. Played this thing on PC ages ago, and now it’s on PS5. Trust me, it’s grown on me like a weird fungus but in a good way, if that makes sense.

Alright, so Roboquest is this wild first-person shooter. And it’s got this slick combat vibe going. The weapons? Totally nuts. Think of those crazy guns from Ratchet & Clank. Yep, exactly. I mean, the dual Uzis even have these comic book-style sound effects, popping up like, “BAM! POW!” Super fun. You’re always on the move, blowing up these evil robot dudes.

Now, it’s not one of those games that makes you smash your controller in frustration. Thank goodness. Different difficulty levels, too, so you can choose your battle, you know? Plus, co-op mode. Yay teamwork, right? Anyway, you’re always unlocking stuff, making your base camp better, getting stronger. And classes! So many to choose from. Sometimes I just play around with them and forget what I was doing.

Ah, right, the levels. They’re kinda mixed up randomly, but not in an annoying way. You don’t get lost, thanks to a handy map, and exploring actually pays off. Those end-level boss fights are intense. Heart-pounding, really. The music hits, and it’s game on. And the designs? So cool, like, I want posters of these bosses on my wall.

And hey, if you’re a PlayStation person, it’s your lucky day. The PS5 version got some cool updates from the PC one. Endless mode and trophies — not joking, there’s a ton to dive into. Feels like the full package now, like opening a gift that’s way better than you thought it’d be.

So here’s my take… Roboquest is this fresh, lively shooter with a ton of fun stuff going on. It’s got these crazy guns and endless replay potential. Looking forward to trying it on PlayStation VR2, which should be a trip… the good kind, not the stumbled-on-the-sidewalk kind.

Oh, and before I forget, got a digital copy for review. In case you’re wondering. Reviewed on version 1.003.000, whatever that means in the big scheme of things. Anyway, where was I? Ah yes, shooting robots — always a good time!
